How Much Does a Building Permit Cost in Clark County?

There are two costs to think about: the fees the jurisdiction charges, and the cost of getting your permit prepared and through review.

Estimating jurisdiction fees

  • Clark County: the county's free online system, CC LMS (the Clark County Land Management System), has an "Estimate Fees" feature. You enter the job description and valuation, and it gives you an estimate of permit fees. You'll need a free account. The county notes the result is an estimate, and only a Permit Technician can give you an exact cost. (official source)
  • City of Vancouver: you can email the city with your project details and request a fee estimate. The city's Building Permit Fees page lists [email protected]. (official source)

How my fee works

I charge one fixed price per project, agreed in writing up front, and it takes the project from start to finish, with every correction round through approval included. I compile all the documents, label them and submit to the city. When corrections come back, I send them out to the right people, like the architectural designer, the engineer or stormwater, and once I get their responses, I resubmit until we have an approved plan set to deliver to you. Each project is quoted after we understand the jurisdiction, the scope and what documents already exist, and jurisdiction fees are separate.

My work covers the permit itself: I take the project through city or county approval and send out the approved plans. Once construction starts, each trade pulls its own permits, like mechanical, electrical and plumbing, and that part is outside my scope.
